Design Stages
Miscellaneous Work

Design Stages created a wide variety of "one-of-a-kind" specialty work. As one of their principle craft persons, I contributed heavily for much of the work seen below.

For the opening of a new office building, we created a huge steel framed and fiberglass candy bar and suspended it from the side of the building.

Hello Minnesota
is a chain of stores specializing in products that promote the state's image. (Ducks, loons, wild rice, Scandinavians, snow shoes...that sort of thing) So we created an entryway that changed with the each of the four seasons. The construction is welded aluminum and air-brushed with aircraft urethane...

Part of the Shell Oil project was to create a scale model of their new gas station design to show to their franchise operators what their stations are going to look like. The model is created almost entirely from acrylic to make it as durable as possible. This model traveled across the country many times and had to be able to withstand much abuse.

Part of the promotion for a series of action figures was to recreate a scale model of the castle from the movie "Willow". Urethane foam was the primary material used with an air-brushed paint job over all. Very detailed and realistic.

A local night club started a Friday night event called "The Shark Club". So they hired us to create an indestructible entry way that could be put up and taken apart by busboys in about 5 minutes. Fiber glass over sectioned plywood and epoxy paint.

These are air-brushed ground rows for a commercial that required "Paris on a hazy day".

One of the more upscale shopping malls in the Twin Cities puts on an elaborate Christmas Santa display. "Santa's Northwood Home" was constructed entirely of custom stained cedar, carved and painted fieldstone fireplace and a polished "aged" cedar floor. The overall effect was very charming.
