Expanded Face Cube

January, 2010

11" x 9" x 11"

stainless steel cable, aluminum, butyl rubber

With Expanded Face Cube, I began to warp my underlying grid to a farther point than ever before. It's around this point that the idea of "lifeform" really takes off.

This is the first time I decided to treat all sides equally so no one face would dominate. The result of that was a sculpture that could be displayed in any orientation.

With the cables being cut evenly as they emerge from the cube, a sphere is formed when bent carefully.

This is a dense piece.
