Mario's Cube

May, 2010

16" x 16" x 10"

stainless steel cable, aluminum, butyl rubber

Mario's Cube is the third warped cube piece I've made. This time, the basic cube shape is pulled and stretched until all the vertices line up into a zigzag ring. I then laid the translucent rubber out into three bands of blue-yellow-blue.

This piece can be configured in any orientation. There is no dominate face, only favorite ones.

This gives you an idea of how the color was applied. The transition pieces change color depending on where you view them.
