Moria
March, 2010
29" x 28" x 18"
stainless steel cable, steel, aluminum, butyl rubber
|
| Moria is my experiment with a knot. A 10-cell triangular
prism twisted into a simple overhand knot. Of course it's never that
simple. The 9 bands of color is my first attempt at "painting"
with my new-found colored rubber. This piece is very much alive in some
strange way, and it shows it with the use of gradations of colors used on
the rings: cold on the outer edge, hot on the interior. |
Another view of the piece. |
The lateral cables ended in this ballooning effect as they passed
through the base. |
Here is the piece in a more primitive form. |
